This beautiful pink lady is fresh, finished & home!
I refinished this antique hutch for one of my favorite customers and it was designed to help complete her home office (see 2 other pieces I’ve finished for her that coordinate with this hutch in photos below).
She owns a boss babe company and helps teach women how to shine their brightest! So, this hutch will serve as holding inventory for studio makeup clients and will be a really pretty & glam piece for clients to look at while they’re getting their makeup done before a serious confidence boosting session!
I absolutely love making old pieces new and putting as much of my customers personalities into THEIR pieces as possible.
A tired, forgotten and broken down hutch now gets to live a long and glamorous life!
I cut off a broken and warped bottom, replaced with a solid base and then after trimming it out, sanded, cleaned, primed, and sprayed with 3 coats of razzbery pink enamel paint.
I hand blended in lighter tones of pink and white to add some movement into this piece. I applied gold foil on accent pieces and in a lace stencil form, and also used gold gilding wax. The glass inside one of the doors was broken anyway so I removed the other side of glass. Then I used a decorative sheet of metal spray painted in metallic gold and added them into the door as “screens” for a little peak at what’s inside but an illusion of closing it off. I used teal on the inside of the hutch to coordinate with my customers office colors, and also lined the shelves with a vintage black contact paper and painted the undersides black. I sealed everything in clear matte spray topcoat. I installed new gold and clear acrylic feet, and a complimenting handle on the door, too.
